Labor Day – Enjoy the Day!

If you rolled up to the shop today and found the lights off… yeah, that was on purpose. We’re closed for Labor Day. Back at it Tuesday, 9/8.

I know, I know. A holiday is prime sandwich time. Everybody’s off, everybody’s hungry, and here we are with the grill cold. From a pure business standpoint, closing on a big day is a little nuts.

But here’s the thing. Labor Day exists because people fought for the idea that work shouldn’t eat your whole life. And in this business, work will absolutely try to eat your whole life if you let it.

The Honest Part

Running a cheesesteak shop is early mornings, late nights, and a lot of Saturdays. Ribeye prices go up, we figure it out. The fryer acts up, we figure it out. Somebody calls out, guess who’s on the grill. That’s the deal, and we love the deal.

But the people who make this place run have kids, parents, spouses, and friends who’ve been hearing “I’ll be home after close” all summer long. Today they get to say “I’m home” instead.

One day. That’s not too much to ask. Honestly, it’s the least we can do.

Family First… Sandwiches a Close Second

We’re a family shop, and I mean that literally. Family works the line, family does the books, family argues about whether the onions are cooked enough. So this holiday hits a little different for us.

Because the truth is, nobody at the end of the road wishes they’d worked one more Monday. They wish they’d sat at one more table, told one more bad joke, and eaten one more burger somebody’s uncle definitely overcooked.

So today, that’s the plan. Grill’s off at the shop and on in the backyard.

What We’d Love for You to Do

Put the phone down. Call your mother. Let the kids stay up a little late. Eat something off a paper plate. Make a memory that has nothing to do with your inbox.

And if you get a craving for the good stuff while you’re at it… we’ll be right here Tuesday, rested up and ready to go. First cheesesteak of the week is always the best one anyway.

Happy Labor Day from all of us. Thank you for keeping a small shop like ours in business, one sandwich at a time.

See you Tuesday.
